The 2020/21 NFL season so far

The 2020/21 NFL season is reaching a climax with the competition already down to its last 8 teams. The season started with the teams placed in two conferences, the American Football Conference and the National Football Conference.

Each conference was divided into 4 groups of 4, making it 16 teams per conference.

In the American Football Conference, we had the West, East, South and North groups. The West group contained the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, and Denver Broncos.

The East group contained Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots and New York Jets. The North group contained the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. The South group contained the Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Of these teams, only 7 made it to the playoffs, with the Kansas City Chiefs the only team making Conference. The Steelers, Titans and Bills clinched division by winning their groups.

The Colts, Ravens and Browns also qualified by clinching Wild Card as the best of the rest.

Similarly, the National Football Conference had four groups; West, East, North and South. The West group contained the Seattle Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams, Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. The East group had the Washington Football team, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.

The North group had the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. The South group had the New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons.

Only the Packers made Conference, Washington Football team, the Seahawks, and Saints all clinched division as they won their respective groups, with the Wild Card slots going to the Rams, Bears, and Buccaneers.

In the wildcard round of the playoffs, teams that didn’t make conference faced each other and there were 7 matches. First, the Buffalo Bills defeated Indianapolis Colts 27-24 to qualify for the divisional rounds, Los Angeles Rams defeated the Seahawks 30-20, Buccaneers defeated Washington Football team 31-23, Titans lost to the Ravens 20-13, Saints beat the Bears 21-9, and the Steelers defeated the Browns 48-37.

For the divisional rounds, the teams got drawn against the two teams that made Conference, the defending champions, Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers. In the opening match of the round, the Green Bay Packers had Aaron Rodgers to thank as they swept away the Los Angeles Rams 32-18 to secure their place in the conference championships for a second year running against the Buccaneers or the Saints, led by Tom Brady and Drew Brees, respectively. A win in the NFC Conference championship will put them into the Super Bowl.

After the disappointment of losing in the Conference championship last season, they just need to win two more matches. The Bills also defeated the Ravens 17-3 to set up a potential clash with the champions, Kansas City Chiefs or Cleveland Browns in the AFC Conference championship game.

The conference championships are due to be concluded on the 24th of January, and fans who loves betting on NFL can look forward to the final, the Super Bowl which will be staged on the 7th of February.
