Serie A Matchday 2 Preview, Tips and Predictions

After an eventful opening round of matches in the Italian top flight, the teams are ready to go again on Matchday two of the 2021/22 season with a lot still to play for in the league.

Champions Inter Milan showed off their pedigree last week as they defeated Genoa, and they would look to take that form into the rest of the season if they are to retain the title.

Here is our Serie A matchday two preview and tips from our in-house experts;

Udinese vs Venezia: Fresh from their admirable matchday one 2-2 draw against Juventus, Udinese will hope to build on the result when they take on newly-promoted Venezia. Venezia lost their season opener against Napoli by two goals to nil and would be looking to pick up their first points of the season. Udinese are favourites to pick up the win and have been given 1.76 odds of winning. Venezia have been given 4.55 odds of winning and a draw has been set at 3.50 odds.

Verona vs Inter Milan: Champions Inter Milan will hope to take their excellent form from the opening match into their second match away to Hellas Verona. Hellas Verona lost to Sassuolo in the previous round of matches, and they would be hoping that they can perform better against Inter Milan when they face each other. Verona have been given 5.50 odds of picking up a win and Inter Milan have been given 1.57 odds. A draw between the sides has been set at 4.00 odds.

Atalanta vs Bologna: Atalanta will welcome Bologna to their home for their matchday two clash on the back of a 2-1 opening-round win over Torino away from home. Bologna also won their opening match against Salernitana but are the underdogs coming into this match. They have been given 9.00 odds of winning the game, with the home side getting 1.29 odds. A draw in the match has been given 5.75 odds.

Lazio vs Spezia: Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio will be without Joaquin Correa, who completed a move to Inter Milan, but should not face too much troubles in dispatching Spezia at the Stadio Olimpico. Lazio comfortably defeated Empoli in the opening round of matches, while Spezia played a 2-2 draw against Cagliari. The home team are clear favourites in this one. Lazio are clear favourites for this match and have been given 1.36 odds. A draw has been pegged at 4.90 odds, and a Spezia win at 8.00 odds.

Fiorentina vs Torino: Fiorentina will look to bounce back from their opening day defeat to AS Roma when they host Torino. Torino also lost to Atalanta in their opening match of the season, and would be looking to pick up the points against a Fiorentina side that struggled badly against Roma. Fiorentina have been given 2.20 odds of picking up a win, and Torino have been given 3.10 odds of winning the match. A draw between the sides has been set at 3.35 odds.

Juventus vs Empoli: Juventus will be without Cristiano Ronaldo for their match against Empoli after the forward requested to move away from the club. Empoli will look to take advantage of the Portuguese forward’s absence by getting a shock result against Juventus. Juventus, meanwhile, will look to recover from their matchday one draw against Udinese by defeating Empoli. They have been given 1.25 odds of winning the match, while Empoli have been given 11.00 odds. A draw has been set at 6.00 odds.

Genoa vs Napoli: Napoli will look to defeat Genoa in their matchday two encounter after they picked up an impressive opening day win over Venezia despite being a man down. Genoa were at the receiving end of a mauling at the hands of champions Inter Milan on the opening day, and will be looking to pick up a result in front of their home fans. They are underdogs in this match, and they have been given 6.00 odds of picking up a win. Napoli have been given 1.50 odds of winning the match, and a draw has been set at 4.30 odds.

Sassuolo vs Sampdoria: Sassuolo and Sampdoria will lock horns on matchday two after picking up contrasting results on the opening round of matches. Sassuolo won against Verona away from home, and Sampdoria was defeated by AC Milan at home. The home side will be looking to build on the win to continue their impressive start to the season. They have been given 2.00 odds of winning the match, with their visitors getting 3.50 odds. A draw has been pegged at 3.45 odds.

AC Milan vs Cagliari: AC Milan will welcome Cagliari to the San Siro for their matchday two clash. The Rossoneri claimed a slim 1-0 win over Sampdoria on matchday one and would be looking to build on the result against a Cagliari side that were held to a draw by Spezia. Milan are clear favourites in the game with 1.42 odds of victory. A draw has been pegged at 4.45 odds and a Cagliari win has been set at 7.25 odds.

Salernitana vs AS Roma: Newly-promoted Salernitana host Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma. As AS Roma defeated Fiorentina in the first round of matches, Salernitana fell to Bologna 3-2. The new boys will look to pick up their first points in the Serie A when they take on the visiting Roma. AS Roma are clear favourites to pick up all three points on offer in the match after their brilliant start to life under Mourinho. Salernitana are the underdogs in this match with 4.95 odds of picking up a win. A draw has been set at 4.05 odds, and a Roma win has been set at 1.62 odds.
