Joshua v Pulev: Who ends the year as the WBA ‘super’, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion?

It is third time lucky for Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev who will finally face off for the last big bout of the year to be staged in Wembley Arena, England.

The Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev fight could have been staged in 2017 but the Bulgarian pulled out with a shoulder injury, leaving “AJ” to fight Carlos Takam instead.

Again, the fight was scheduled for June 20, 2020, but COVID-19 happened, then the third date picked and finally it is going to happen.

This fight is seen by many boxing fans and fans who love betting on boxing as the potential stopper to the much anticipated fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

A unification fight between Anthony Joshua the holder of the WBA ‘super’, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles and Tyson Fury the holder of the WBC heavyweight belt is what fans are anticipating.

But first, Anthony Joshua must take care of business from his end by beating his mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev.

With three of the four heavyweight titles on the line both fighters go into the fight full of confidence and ready for war.

“You talk too much bro,” Anthony Joshua told Kubrat Pulev during the weigh-in.

“Whoever you’ve been in with, these fighters, you need to get into your head you’ve got to fight someone like me.”

Kubrat Pulev replied over and over again: “I respect you, but tomorrow I show you.”

Anthony Joshua said: “Tomorrow we go to war. Don’t come in here running your mouth off.”

And Kubrat Pulev responded: “Okay, respect, Olympic champion, world champion.”

But Anthony Joshua added: “I don’t care about that.”

Only for Pulev to again start shouting: “I respect you, but tomorrow I show you man.”

Today at the Wembley Stadium by 11pm both boxers will fight for the WBA ‘super’, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles.
